Dear prayer partners,

From June 6^th to the 12^th, the preparatory meeting for the third Lausanne Congress (Cape Town 2010) was held in Seoul,  South Korea.  Even with a full and tight schedule, I still accepted the invitation to attend and to participate in some of the preparatory tasks....it is because there is an intrinsic relationship between the CCCOWE Movement that began 33 years ago in 1976 and the first Lausanne Congress that was held in 1974.  That first Lausanne assembly had made much impact on the 70 Chinese delegates.  After praying in unity as well as planning for two years, they began the CCCOWE Movement.  Today, the movement is still on the rise, uniting the hearts of 8,000 Overseas Chinese Churches to proclaim the gospel until Christ's return.

Being enthralled in the planning and preparation for such a large scale assembly, on the one hand it is a way for Chinese Churches to give back; and on the other hand, it is an opportunity for me to learn from our co-workers from the West.  Currently CCCOWE is actively planning and preparing for the 8^th CCOWE which is scheduled to be held in Indonesia in 2011.  While observing the Western co-workers' earnestness and professionalism, I was so much impressed by their diligence and thoughtfulness towards every preparatory details.

Although we still have 2 more years to go before the 8^th CCOWE, "PRAYERS" is imperative and essential to the overall preparation!  We need you, Prayer Warrior, to join this Prayer Army to pray for the 8^th CCOWE on a daily basis!  We urgently covet your intercessory prayers for the 8^th CCOWE:

1. "Developing the future with the past heritage in mind" -  that has always been a burden in my heart ever since I've taken up the office at CCCOWE.  For this reason, the theme for the 8^th CCOWE - "The Holistic Gospel of Christ Reaching All Peoples" is supposed to be a sequence to the theme for the 7^th CCOWE - "Spreading the Holistic Gospel of Christ to All Nations."  Because of the continuity of these two themes, I hope it would become an emphasis and stimulation to Chinese churches to engage in these five renewals sequentially: "Renewal of Life", "Renewal of Church", "Renewal of Society", "Renewal of Culture", and "Renewal of All Nations".  It is my prayer that our Lord would allow this hope to be realized.  
   
   
2. Please pray for the programme arrangements, speakers' invitations, venue preparation as well as each and every participant.  Pray that our Lord bestows upon each co-worker involved in the preparations with heavenly wisdom, faithful commitment, and unity in co-labor.
   
   
3. The operating budget of the entire assembly is very enormous especially under the struggles from the global financial tsunami - indeed it is an intense test of our faith.  In addition, bankruptcies of corporations, pressures from unemployment, rise in inflation, and increase in transportation costs, etc. - all these indirectly increase the expenses of attending the 8^th CCOWE and also pose challenges to the participants.  Please pray for the dire need - the operating expenses of the Congress.
   
   
4. Lastly, please do not forget the host country - pray for the co-workers in Indonesia.  During the preparation process, the workload of the host country is extremely arduous and urgently requires us to co-work with them through prayers.  Pray that the Lord's presence be with the co-workers, filling them with joy in the midst of their hard work.  May they come to see the fruits of their labor!
